singulary situations

In this course we'll talk about 2 types of situations. The first type is called singulary situations:

before
I wrote an essay yesterday.



before
I will write 2 repports tomorrow.

permanent/serial situations

The second type includes permanent situations:

before
I worked for a newspaper.



And serial situations:

before
I wrote every day.

With serial situations we use words like every day, on Mondays, often, sometimes etc.

progressive

The Progressive is also called the continuous. It's used when we are in the middle of a situation:

before
I'm writing a short story now.



Similarly in the future or past:

before
Yesterday at 3 I was writing my essay.

perfect

The Perfect is used with situations before now:

before
I have written 5 pages today!



Or before a future or past moment:

before
At 1 o'clock I had written only 2 pages.

perfect progressive

The Perfect can also look back at a situation we are in the middle of:

before
I am writing a short story now.



before
I have been writing it for 4 hours.



This combination is called the Perfect Progressive.
